Dub Mafia’s interest from the world-famous Ultra Festival in Florida caps an amazing first year for the Bristol drum and bass/dubstep band.
The seven-strong crew have built up a formidable following and reputation since forming in late 09, thanks to their unrivalled musicianship, the beautiful vocals of singer Eva Lazarus and their insistence on playing everything live on the night.
The band first surfaced last December with three live videos on Youtube (‘Danger’, ‘Dub Specialist’ and ‘Breakneck’), which catapulted them to overnight sensation status – with ‘Breakneck’ shooting to the top of YouTube’s ‘Most Voted’ and ‘Favourites’ charts within a week.
Since then they have performed to packed houses on a sell-out European tour through Germany, Holland, Denmark, Finland and Croatia, returning to the UK in the summer to tear up the festival scene – including crowd-storming gigs at Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, One Love, Shambala, Beach Break and many more.
The band rounded off their incredible year by playing to 10,000 adoring fans on the main stage at The New Music Festival in Poland where they were hailed the “discovery” of the festival, followed by a sell-out show in Lithuania and a storming gig in their hometown.
Their debut single ‘Breakneck’ from the forthcoming album will be available to buy March 2011 on digital and vinyl release.
With a 2011 UK and European tour already confirmed and global interest snowballing, Dub Mafia are set to continue taking the music world by storm.
